Paul Burgess' Fantic 300
I have just finished rebuilding my fantic 300. I Live in Wiltshire and ride in the Wilts and Dorset MCC. I have been riding twinshock trials since 1992 and in that period I have bought in excess of fifty twinshock bikes, and have restored some. This bike I got of an auction site; you know, the one that looks better in the photos than in the flesh. Once stripped, it was better than it looked. The engine has never been apart before. I made a good contact with a chap who has a lot of NOS parts and a deal was struck. I had a couple of parts that he wanted and he had lots that I needed. Also the Internet was a great source for bits. It has a powder coated frame and swinging arm, NOS rear hub, front mudguard, exhaust, side panels, chainguard, new rims with stainless spokes, engine rebuild with new rings, bearings and seals throughout. Also the kickstart shaft has been changed for a later one as I have had two snap in the past. It has a later top yoke to move the bars forward. I have resisted cutting the frame as I like it the way it is. Every nut and bolt has been changed for stainless. It has new cables, levers, bars, mudguards, tyres, chain and sprockets. In fact every part has been refurbed or replaced. But I do intend to use it (and get it dirty)!
